How It Works

We-help-you-prepare-your-order.png
  • WE RAISE.  We raise your animal on fresh pasture with no GMOs or chemicals.
  • YOU CHOOSE A SIZE & DATE. Browse our 5 sizes of whole or partial cows or pigs to see which meats each includes. Then browse our available dates for each (cow dates - pig dates), which determines when your animal will go to processing.
  • YOU PLACE A DEPOSIT.  Use your Whiffletree account to place your $100 deposit on the size and date you picked, and receive an initial confirmation email. It takes around 1 week for our system to finalize your deposit and send your deposit receipt.
  • ORGANS. Customers getting Whole animals will receive the organs with their order. Customers who are getting Halves and Quarters will not.
  • CUSTOM CUTS. Most of our customers get our classic cuts, which we've found to be the most popular and give you the most bang for your buck. Those who have ordered a whole cow or pig have the option of doing a custom cut sheet. For custom cut sheet.
  • WE TRANSPORT.  We'll take your animal to our processor (Finest Butcher) on the designated date.
  • IN 4 TO 6 WEEKS your meat will be ready.
  • YOU PAY. We'll notify you that your order is ready and email a breakdown of remaining costs (see all costs). We will charge your balance using the card on file.

  • PACK. Please remember to bring coolers, boxes, or bags to transport your frozen meat home.
  • YOU'LL PICK UP your completed order from our partner USDA meat processor who has packaged our most popular cuts for years:

  • 7-DAY PICK UP WINDOW.  You'll have 7 days to pick up your order from the time we notify you.
  • PICK UP TIMES.  You can pick up your order Monday through Friday 9AM to 4:30PM (excluding federal holidays).  (If you cannot pick up Monday-Friday, you will have 1 option of the 1st Saturday of the month.)
  • LET FINEST KNOW YOU'VE ARRIVED.  Let them know you're there to pick up a Whiffletree order, and what animal and size you ordered.
  • LOADING YOUR ORDER IN YOUR VEHICLE.  Pull around the pick up area, and they will bring your order out which you'll transport in your vehicle.
  • TAKING YOUR MEAT HOME TO STORE.  You'll need adequate freezer space at home to store your order (see our freezer tips).

    Freezer Storage Tips

    What size freezer you need fdepends upon which size animal you order. Meat from whole and partial animal orders come packaged in the same way our retail meats come [example: ground meats in 1 lb packs, steaks individually wrapped]. Keep in mind that ground meats come in stackable square packages, while steaks, bones, and larger cuts come in their own shape and size. Sometimes this means you'll need a little extra freezer space to store all your meat.

    Custom Cuts


    Most of our customers get our "Classic Cuts." But if you've ordered a Whole size animal and would like to customize it, there will be a $30 custom cut fee.

    A link will be provided in your confirmation email where you can sign up to discuss your cut sheet with us.
